Here we are: La Dems, newly chosen to represent Louisiana Democrats at the 2016 presidential convention. That’s me, Liz, second from the left in the front row, in the white coat and Bernie button. Just now we are all busy thanking our lucky stars and making plane and hotel reservations, and deciding whether to max out our credit cards or do some fundraising to pay for the trip.
I’ll be joined by fellow writer Ann Porter, a Democratic State Central Committee member, in telling you the story of the convention as it happens. We’ll be quiet for awhile, but you will start getting the inside story right here in late July, when the convention begins. Meanwhile, we hope you enjoy the summer. And try not to believe the pundits. As the late Victor Schiro, once mayor of New Orleans, advised, “Don’t believe any false rumors unless they come from me.”
That was a joke. Our rumors will be true.
William Penn named his city Philadelphia because it means “love.” Lovely sentiment, isn’t it? Let’s hold on to that thought in July.
